The role

The accountant - Liaison financial shared services takes care of a variety of tasks within the financial department, including coordination between the financial shared services and the organisation in Wilrijk, statutory as well as tax tasks, internal control aspects and part project-based work in function of the entire Imperial Brands organisation.

The position reports to the Factory Controller and works with cost accountant and assistant controller on the one hand, and the financial shared service center on the other. This position is an 80% employment.


Principal Accountabilities

The link between the local organisation and the Financial Shared Service within the Imperial Brands group including:

  • Coordinating supplier accounting and payments; execution through FSS
  • Follow-up month-end closing activities
  • Elaborate or adjust procedures FSS
  • Training local organisation


Statutory and fiscal aspects

  • Responsible VAT declaration and centralisation
  • Preparation of corporate tax / annual accounts
  • Preparation info works council

Capex - investments

  • Follow-up planning of investments and depreciation
  • Assist in preparation and follow-up of investment requests
  • Monitoring project implementation and savings achieved
  • Managing and reporting fixed asset register and depreciation

Some additional aspects : Internal control, making statistics and support projects

Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for someone with a sense of responsibility and independence:

  • Ensuring correct accounting processing of expenses
  • VAT centralisation and declaration
  • Looks for solutions for aspects of supplier accounting
  • Follow-up of tasks within FSS and adjust if necessary
  • Flexibility on ad hoc questions and demand for reporting
  • Monitoring internal control
  • Follow up investment files and adjust if necessary
  • Project-based work to support the various departments
  • Helping with statutory and tax tasks within the PLC

The preferred candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent through experience
  • VAT knowledge as a must
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supplier accounting
  • Understanding and experience in an ERP package (QAD, JDE, SAP, ...)
  • Accounting (G/L and Management accounting)
  • Principles of taxation / principles of social law
  • 2 years' experience in production environment or audit is a plus
  • Good knowledge of English and Dutch, written and spoken
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Excel
  • Research-analytical and organisational skills
  • Can work independently and shows initiative - Problem solver
  • Accuracy in details and view of the bigger picture
